Procedure
Dental implants in Mexico
A titanium post placed in the jaw to carry a single replacement tooth, with a crown fitted on top once the post has integrated.
What the procedure involves
The dentist places a titanium post into the jawbone, lets it integrate with the bone over several months, then fits an abutment and a crown. Most patients need two trips: one for placement, one for the crown.
Before
A CT scan or panoramic X-ray to check bone volume. If there is not enough bone, a graft or sinus lift comes first and adds months to the timeline.
After
A check at 7 to 10 days after placement, then again when the crown is fitted. Plan for the second trip three to six months later.
Trips across the border
Budget for roughly 2 separate trips. Sequencing matters more than the headline price: two extra round trips can eat a large part of what you save. How the crossing works.
What it costs

Questions patients actually ask
How many trips to Mexico does dental implants take?
Plan for about 2 trips. A check at 7 to 10 days after placement, then again when the crown is fitted. Plan for the second trip three to six months later.
What should I get in writing before I travel?
A written quote that lists each stage, the materials being used, what the price includes and excludes, and what happens if something needs redoing. If a clinic will not put the plan in writing before you cross the border, that tells you something.
How do I know the dentist doing this is actually qualified?
Every dentist listed on this site has their cédula profesional number published with the date it was confirmed against the federal registry, and the profile links to the registry so you can repeat the check. For a surgical procedure, also look at whether they hold specialty certification and whether it is still inside its validity window.
